PM Shehbaz meets the King of Bahrain in Manama, Bahrain

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa of Bahrain on Wednesday, reaffirming the strong and historic partnership between the two countries, the Prime Minister’s Office said.

During the meeting, the King conferred upon Prime Minister Shehbaz the Order of Bahrain (First Class), the highest honour bestowed by Bahrain on heads of state and government. The King also highlighted that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had once represented Bahrain as its lawyer.

Both sides reviewed bilateral relations and agreed to enhance cooperation in political, economic, defence, and cultural fields.

The prime minister appreciated Bahrain’s support, including the establishment of King Hamad University for Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences in Islamabad, which was inaugurated in September 2025, and expressed gratitude for Bahrain’s solidarity following recent terrorist incidents in Pakistan.

Shehbaz highlighted Pakistan’s desire to expand trade and investment, noting that bilateral trade is expected to grow under the Pakistan-GCC Free Trade Agreement, currently in the final stages.

He invited Bahraini investors to explore opportunities in food security, IT, construction, mining, tourism, and healthcare through Pakistan’s Special Investment Facilitation Council.

Both leaders reaffirmed the longstanding defence partnership and agreed to continue cooperation in training, logistics, manpower, and defence production. They also discussed recent developments in Gaza and stressed the need for lasting peace and stability for its people.

The visit concluded with a banquet hosted by the King of Bahrain in honour of the Prime Minister and the Pakistani delegation, underlining the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
