ISLAMABAD: Former candidate from Chaklala Cantonment Rawalpindi Constituency 1, Malik Danish Mumraiz Awan and deputy secretary general of the Jamaat-e-Islami, Rawalpindi, Zeeshan Wilayat Satti, along with dozens of their supporters, joined the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

The delegation met the Secretary General of PPP Parliamentarians Nayyar Hussain Bukhari at the party’s central secretariat in Islamabad on Monday to formally announce their decision.

The joining ceremony was attended by PPP Central Secretary Humayun Khan, in-charge of the party’s central secretariat Syed Sibtul Haider Bukhari, PPP Punjab Vice President Khalid Nawaz Bobi, and several other senior party figures. The leadership welcomed the newcomers and said their inclusion would further strengthen the party’s organisational structure in the Rawalpindi region.

Speaking to the media, Nayyar Bukhari said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari represents the country’s youth and embodies hope for Pakistan’s future. He noted that November marks the founding month of the PPP, and paid tribute to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, crediting him with making Pakistan “an undefeatable state.”

Bukhari said Pakistan’s defence capabilities were significantly enhanced through Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s nuclear programme and further reinforced under Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s missile development initiatives.

Highlighting regional security, he said that the Pakistan Army had achieved historic victories against India, adding that the current circumstances demanded maximum national unity to safeguard the country’s stability.

“Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto empowered the people by declaring them the true source of political authority,” Bukhari said. “A strong democratic order is possible only when the Constitution remains supreme.”

He added that the PPP has always sought to resolve national challenges through dialogue, consensus, and reconciliation, and criticised “one political party” for refusing to engage in democratic dialogue.
