LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to establish a modern control room at the Directorate General of Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) Punjab for effective monitoring of water and sanitation initiatives across the province and to meet modern urban needs.
According to the spokesperson for the Punjab Housing Department on Thursday, all WASA agencies across the province will be connected to the new centralised control room, through which key systems of water supply and sewerage will be monitored using advanced smart technology and AI-based mechanisms.
“To resolve consumer complaints efficiently and transparently, a modern Complaint Management System is also being introduced, which will monitor citizens’ complaints instantly through an AI-based process.
Facility for lodging complaints via social media and WhatsApp will also be provided, while a modern call centre is being established for the convenience of citizens,” he said.
According to him, the automated system will ensure quick transmission of complaints to the relevant teams for immediate resolution. Disposal stations, tube wells, and filtration plants are being shifted to the SCADA system, enabling real-time monitoring of all these facilities. Moreover, modern wastewater and surface water treatment plants will also be controlled and monitored through the new control room, while WASA agencies are being fully digitised in phases.
He added that under the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, the establishment of WASA agencies across the province is progressing rapidly, which will enable the provision of modern, transparent, and improved municipal services to the public.
