ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to promote understanding, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence among all citizens and nations.
In their separate messages on the occasion of the International Day for Tolerance, they vowed to take solid measures for the promotion of tendencies of tolerance, forbearance, communal harmony and inter-faith brotherhood.
In his message, the President said the principles of tolerance are deeply rooted in the teachings of Islam, which emphasize compassion, justice, and respect for all humanity.
He said freedom to profess religion and manage religious institutions is enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan.
The Prime Minister, in his message, said the elimination of social and religious friction and the inclusion of all classes, especially minorities, in the national mainstream are among the priorities of the government.
