HYDERABAD: SAFWCO has distributed cheques worth Rs90 million in the fourth phase of matching grants under the European Union-funded Growth for Rural Advancement and Sustainable Progress (GRASP) project. The project is being implemented by International Trade Centre (ITC) in partnership with PPAF, FAO and SMEDA with SAFWCO as partner organisation facilitating project activities in Hyderabad.

The cheque distribution ceremony was held at the Local Hotel Hyderabad among small and medium enterprises in Hyderabad and Karachi, in which Fresh & Roshan was given Rs1 crore and Al Noor Cold Storage, Bio Energy Solutions, Saeed Khan Enterprises and HN Food Products were given Rs2 crore each, for a total value of Rs9 crore

Addressing the ceremony, the chief guest, Hyderabad Commissioner Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, said that the services of SAFWCO in many aspects including education, health, infrastructure construction, livestock, handicrafts, financial sector, etc. to change the lives of rural people are commendable. And the most important thing is that the assistance provided to the people takes care of their self-respect, which is a great service for which its founder Suleman G Abro deserves praise.

He said that despite raising children and working hard on the house and land, women in rural areas are deprived of basic facilities including food, education and health and are economically helpless more work needs to be done in this direction. In this regard, the initiative of SAFWCO to provide employment opportunities to women, which includes financial assistance for small and medium enterprises, is commendable. By following the footsteps of Sulemanji Abro, we can all do a lot for the society. We have learned a lot from today’s event. Today we are all ambassadors of this programme we will try to leave our impact on the society like SAFWCO.

Speaking at the event, MPA Sabir Qaimkhani said that I am very impressed by the work of SAFWCO. We are proud that there are institutions in Hyderabad that have spent billions of rupees in the service of the public and people are getting employment.

Sindh Abadgar Board President Mahmood Nawaz Shah said that billions of rupees of aid come to our country and it is not known where it is spent, however, the aid given by SAWFCO is fair and quality, so the effects of this aid are visible. It is happy to see SAFCO’s services for the agricultural economy.

Addressing the ceremony, SAFWCO founder and CEO Suleman G Abro gave a brief overview of the institutions of the SAFWCO group and their services. He said that after a complete review, training has also been established for those who benefit from the GRASP project.
