Security forces killed 20 terrorists affiliated with the Indian-sponsored group “Fitna al Khwarij” in two separate counter-terrorism operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on November 8-9, the military’s media affairs wing said on Monday.

In the first operation in the Shawal area of North Waziristan District, forces engaged a terrorist hideout, eliminating eight khwarij, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement.

A second operation in Dara Adam Khel District saw 12 more terrorists neutralised after a fierce exchange of fire.

The ISPR said sanitisation operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the region.

The operations are part of Pakistan’s ongoing counter-terrorism campaign under the vision “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.

The campaign aims to eradicate foreign-backed terrorism from Pakistan and will continue at full pace, the military said.

President, PM hail forces for successful operation

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the security forces for their successful operations, praising their professionalism, courage, and commitment to national security.

President Zardari described the Indian-backed group Fitna al Khwarij and its facilitators as enemies of Pakistan’s peace and stability. He affirmed that the elimination of foreign-supported militants is being carried out with national consensus.

Meanwhile, PM Shehbaz said the forces stand like a “wall of steel” in defence of the nation. He added that the entire nation salutes the security personnel for their dedication and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completely eradicate all forms of terrorism from the country.
