KARACHI: The UN Women on Tuesday organized a project showcasing event under its program "Women's Economic Resilience in Pakistan", at a local hotel.

The government of Japan assists the project financially to help females find access to the essential services including psychosocial support, counseling and other needs through setting up of the women community centers.

This project stands aligned with the UN Women's Humanitarian Strategy 2022-2025, targeting 49,280 beneficiaries in the country's three provinces, some nine districts in total.

The event also introduced two women beneficiaries including Nageen from Charsada - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Asia from Lasbella - Balochistan, who shared their experiences regarding the support from project they received.

Counsel General of Japan in Karachi, Hattori Masaru showed his country's commitment to upholding the gender equality and supporting the women empowerment. He said that Japan is against the gender based discrimination and advocates for the women protection.

Muhammad Asghar Memon, Secretary Sindh Planning and Development hoped the project will help women empowerment, leading to their contributions to the national prosperity.

In 2023 some 90 women community centers were established, modeling safe and harassment free spaces platforms for awareness raising, information sharing, skill, and knowledge development.
