LAHORE: The case flow management system and e-Pay Punjab, developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) for the Directorate of Consumer Protection Council and Punjab Finance Minister Department, respectively, were gaining online traffic over the past few years.

As per details shared by the PITB, the Punjab government has so far collected record tax revenue of over Rs 154 billion through e-Pay Punjab, an online platform for the collection of government taxes/levies, which had jumped from around Rs 135 billion in December 2022.

As per the breakdown of tax collections through the online platform, Rs 98 billion was collected under head of sales tax, Rs 16 billion as token tax, Rs 6 billion as traffic challan, Rs 16 billion as property tax and over 360 million in lieu of e-challan.

Moreover, online transactions through e-Pay Punjab also saw a visible growth, which crossed the mark of 26.8 million; a jump of over 2 million online transactions was seen since December 2022.

Commenting on the success of e-Pay Punjab, PITB Faisal Yousaf said that the online platform was facilitating citizens massively by enabling them to pay their taxes online, on the move or from the comfort of their homes.

The e-Pay Punjab, developed by PITB in collaboration with Punjab Finance Department and 1 Link, offers online payment of 26 taxes/levies for 11 different government departments across Punjab.

It allows payments to be made via ATM, internet banking, mobile phone banking or over the counter by visiting the nearest 1Link member banks. The taxes can also be paid using Jazz Cash, Easy Paisa, U-paisa and other microfinance banks.

Meanwhile, the ‘Case Flow Management System’ registered 48,721 complaints for the District Authority and 50,059 complaints for the District Consumer Courts since its launch in 2019.

As per the details, 46,597 out of 48,721 district authority complaints and 46,911 out of 50,059 complaints of the district consumer courts complaints were redressed.

It is pertinent to mention here that the case-flow management system has digitized the manual system of district consumer courts, councils and district authority improving the over-all workflow and delivery of public services.

As per the PITB, the system has enabled the district authority in successfully achieving 96 percent case disposed status of complaints filed before district authority and 92 percent cases filed before district consumer courts so far.
