KARACHI: Following the notification released by the Ministry of Energy, Government of Pakistan (GoP) about the modification of the June Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA), K-Electric will facilitate those Non Time-of-Use (Non-ToU) residential consumers, with revised electricity bills for the month of August who have electricity consumption of equal to or less than 200 units. The revised bills will be available from 26 August onwards and can be collected from KE’s operational customer centres across the city.

Agricultural customers in KE territory are also eligible under the Government’s FCA relief.

Per the notification issued by the Ministry of Energy (Power Division), Government of Pakistan on 25 August, “DISCOs and K-Electric are directed to implement the following with immediate effect:

a) Non-ToU Domestic (Protected) consumers having 200 units consumption would only pay Rs3.8972/Unit in August 2022 billing month.

b) Non-ToU Domestic (Non-Protected) consumers having 200 units consumption and Private Agriculture consumers shall not pay any FCA in August 2022 billing month.”

For the convenience of pertinent consumers, the bill due date for August bills has also been extended to 30 August by the power utility. Furthermore, the customer care centres of K-Electric will remain open for extended hours this week. The extended timings for Friday and Saturday are till 8.00pm, while on Sunday, these centres will be opened to facilitate customers till 5:00pm. The Chief Marketing & Communications Officer, Sadia Dada said: “It is important to note that as per the notification, the relief and due date extension is only for those Non-ToU residential consumers who have a power consumption equal to or less than 200 units. All the remaining electricity consumers, such as ToU consumers, Non-ToU residential consumers having beyond 200 units of consumption as well as all commercial, and industrial consumers, are requested to continue paying their bills as per routine.

All efforts are being made by the utility to pass on the relief to eligible customers. Due to the quantum of the exercise, there may be a wait time. Customers are urged to remain patient and cooperate with the utility staff to avoid disruption in service for other customers.”

KE challenged writ of the government. They denied to provide relief to consumers who have consumed up to 200 units of electricity. Yesterday I visited the consumer care centre but they said only those consumer will enjoy the relief who have history of less than 200 units for at least 6 months. Totally mess up.

یہ کیا مذاق ہے آج کے دور میں کس کے ٢٠٠ یونٹس سے کم کا بجلی کا بل آتا ہے ?ڈیجیٹل میٹر لگنے کے ساتھ ہی عوام کے ساتھ دھوکہ کیا گیا ہے.جو استمعال ہمارا آج سے ١ سال پہلے ہوتا تھا آج بھی اتنا ہی استمعال ہے پھر پچھلے سال کے مقابلے اس سال بل کیوں ١٠٠٠٠ بڑھ کر آرہا ہے ? ٣٠٠٠ والا بل اچانک ١٢٠٠٠ کا کیسے ہو گیا ? عوام کو یہ سب بیوقوف بنا رہے ہیں خاص K-ELECTRIC والے .

If it is the relief from the government so it should be for everyone means for every bill holder. It should jot be fixed or limited to the bills with 200 units . Some people have more members in family and their consumption is more. Kindly consider everyone as same . Do not play the game of bifurcation and rule.

It should be like that if any consumer has used 250 unit. The FPA should be zero for 200units and consumer may pay FPA for only 50units. That would be releif for all consumer. Most of the consumer belong to lower middle class and lower class consumed the unit around 200 to 300 units
