KARACHI: At the Pakistan Auto Parts Show ’22, Indus Motor Company, makers of Toyota vehicles in Pakistan is going to showcase and highlight the levels of localisation achieved by the company.

Organized by Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers, country’s largest exhibition of the Auto Industry, is to be held at the International Expo Centre in Lahore from July 29-31.

IMC is the torch bearer of Make in Pakistan philosophy. With localized parts purchase of more than Rs. 270mn daily and more than 30 technical assistance programs aimed at transfer of technology, IMC has led the journey of local engineering base development.

It is worth adding here that Toyota is a pioneer in modern HEV technology and in another milestone achievement, the company has announced to invest $100mn for local production of hybrids. The locally manufactured corolla cross will be available for consumers by next year in 2023. In exhibition, a special display and test drive of Corolla Cross will be the highlight of the show to showcase the same.

Hybrids are future of Pakistan’s auto industry as they have the ability to not only reduce fuel consumption by 50% but will also help significant reduction in carbon footprint.

Local production of hybrids will also open doors for technology transfer, GDP increase, employment generation and exports. There is a 90% probability that what you see and touch in Corolla and Yaris is locally manufactured which shows the commitment of the company towards the economic development Pakistan.

It is pertinent to mention here that PAPS is one of the biggest exhibitions in the country and Indus Motor Company is the diamond sponsor of the exhibition. This year 143 local exhibitors and 60 foreign exhibitors (Asia, Europe, Middle East, Africa, America, GCC) will participate in it.

The exhibition will highlight the local engineering strength including metal and its processing, CNC and special purpose machines, aluminum casting, finishing, heat treatments, surface treatment in metal processing, metal shaping, sheet metal stamping, forge and foundry, plastics, rubbers, and composite processing, glass and other materials, and electronics.
