LAHORE: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have renewed their commitment to bolster their ties in diverse fields including agriculture, livestock and social sector. The understanding came at a meeting between Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz Sharif and a delegation of Federation of Saudi Chambers led by Fahad Al Bash on Wednesday.

Addressing on the occasion, the CM stressed the need to transform the long-standing fraternal relationship into a lasting economic partnership. He also pledged to provide all possible facilities to Saudi investors. He said Saudi Arabia always supported Pakistan in every hour of trial.

The CM requested the Saudi investors to chalk out a programme and build a roadmap to enhance investment and trade with Pakistan. He identified agriculture, agro-industry, minerals, and oil and water resources as some of the potential areas for Saudi investment. Pakistan had comparatively cheap labour, and Pakistan and Saudi Arabia through joint ventures could compete with other countries and export their products, he added.

On the other hand, talking to a delegation of Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry led by its President Hafiz Muhammad Younis, Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman said the focus of the country’s leadership is on improvement and development of industrial sector. “Industries bolster the economy and provide employment to many families,” he said. “Development of industrial estate in Bahawalpur would lead to industrial development in the area.”
