KARACHI: In order to protect public lives and maintain law and order, the city police Wednesday decided to take stern legal action against those found involved in the New Year celebratory aerial firings.

Additional IG Karachi has formed a team to monitor the firing incidents at Karachi Police Office, in this regard, according to Sindh police spokesman.

The police have urged public to keep an eye on their surroundings and send videos of the elements involved in the firing on New Year’s Eve.

Public can lodge complains by sharing videos with police on this number 03435142770 against those who were found involved in the firing incidents, or immediately report the firing to 15 helpline.

Upon receipt of the complaint, he said immediate legal action will be taken without any discrimination.

As a responsible citizen, it is the national duty of general public to report the crime to the police so that the police can take immediate action to save the lives of other citizens. A case will be registered against those involved in the firing under other provisions including attempted murder, which is punishable by ten years imprisonment and is a non-bailable offence.

He said that people are asked not to turn their happiness into mourning, and save themselves.
