ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday dissolved all organisational bodies of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and remove its office-bearers including the chief organisers across the country, days after an embarrassing defeat in the first phase of the local government elections in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
The decision was taken in a meeting with senior party leadership chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is also the chairman of the party – a last ditch effort to eulogise the enraged ideological party workers who are not happy with the party leadership after tickets were awarded to kith and kin by influential the PTI provincial ministers in the KP, which resulted in crushing defeat to the party.

Speaking at a presser after the meeting, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said that the prime minister had expressed dissatisfaction over the party’s performance in the KP local body elections. He said that according to the results of the elections in village councils, the PTI was still the biggest party in the province.
Fawad said the prime minister was extremely unhappy with the way tickets were awarded to the next of kin by the local party leaders in clear violation of merit. He said the PTI was not a dynastic party as tickets were distributed on the basis of family relations rather than merit, adding PM Khan has never let his personal relations affect his mission.
