Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 196,156 tons of cargo comprising 143,579 tons of import cargo and 52,577 tons of export cargo during last 24 hrs ending 0700 Hours.

Total import cargo of 143,579 comprised of 82,760 tons of containerized cargo; 374 tons of bulk cargo; 4,791 tons of sugar; 4,391 tons of wheat and 51,263 tons of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 52,577 tons comprised of 42,533 tons of containerized cargo; 1,550 tons of bulk cargo; 7,594 tons of rice 900 tons of oil liquid cargo.

As many as 10,209 containers comprising of 6,264 containers import and 3,945 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 1,336 of 20’s and 2,102 of 40’s loaded while 02 of 20’s and 381 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 657 of 20’s and 951 of 40’s loaded containers while 330 of 20’s and 528 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were eight ships berthed at Karachi Port namely Osaka Express, BW Kallang, Diyala, Xing Fu Song, Aldebaran, Independent Spirit, Szczechin Trader and Hansa Roternburg carrying containers, tankers, general cargo.

Five ships namely Long Beach Trader, Gant Bhum, MSC Erminia, Tarlan and Sea Ambition sailed off from Karachi Port.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 230,506 tonnes comprising 188,971 tonnes of import cargo and 41,535 tonnes of export cargo including 3,250 loaded and empty containers (991 TEUs imports and 2259TEUs export) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

The total import cargo of 188,971 tonnes includes 33,119 tonnes of coal; 8,869 tonnes of palm oil; 19,208 tonnes of gas oil; 16,847 tonnes of containerized cargo; 85,388 tonnes of LNG; 272 tonnes of project cargo; 1,483 tonnes of LPG; 1,044 tonnes of sodium sulphate; 7391 tonnes of steel coil; 13,700 tonnes of chemicals and 1,650 tonnes of wheat.

The total export cargo of 41,535 tonnes includes 38,403 tonnes of containerized cargo and 3,182 tonnes of rice.

There are 17 ships currently at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim and waiting for berths; out of them five ships, MSC Rachele, Seago, Bremerhaven, IOL Cos Legacy, Pacific Wealth and Bai Lu Zou carrying containers, canola and gasoline are expected to take berths at container terminal, grain terminal, bulk terminal and oil terminal respectively on Tuesday on 16th NNovember-2021.
