Karachi: Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Dr Asif Mahmood Jah has said that he is devising a mechanism to resolve the tax-related complaints of businessmen within sixty hours.

He expressed these views while attending a meeting with businessmen held at Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) here on Monday.

“I would prefer to be an advocate of business fraternity and not a tax Ombudsman during my tenure at FTO”, he said.

He said FTO is developing online portal to resolve the issues of traders.

“We have inaugurated FTO portal at Jinnah Terminal today”, he informed, adding that meetings are being held in this regard.

He said that Ombudsman would resolve issues of industrialists including refund of taxes. He said FTO would create a bridge between taxpayers and tax collectors.

He said Prime minister is also keen to resolve the tax issues of businessmen and he has been directed to do the same. “We have to respect tax payers”, he said, adding that he is in touch with prime minister office and presents him a daily report.

He said FTO would dispense swift justice to tax payers.

President KCCI Muhammad Idrees and Zubair Motiwala also spoke.
