SHC commutes death sentence into life term in murder case

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday commuted the death sentence of an accused Rajesh alias Raju to life imprisonment.

A high court bench heard a plea filed by the accused against the death sentence awarded to him by a trial court in a murder case of a citizen Nawabuddin, a supervisor of a private hospital.

According to the persecution, the accused Rajesh stabbed private hospital supervisor Nawabuddin to death. A case was registered against the accused at Steel Town Police Station in 2017, the prosecutor said.

He said that the accused killed the victim for fear of being caught after stealing Rs 21,000 from the victim. The accused had stabbed Nawabuddin to death while he was sleeping in the hospital. The accused was arrested with the help of CCTV footage. The trial court had sentenced Rajesh to death on conviction.
