An accountability court in Islamabad will indict former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, his son Abdullah Khaqan Abbasi and others in the LNG terminal reference on November 16.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has accused the former PM of illegally awarding the 15-year contract for the LNG Terminal-I when he was petroleum minister in the cabinet of then PM Nawaz Sharif.

Last year in July, NAB arrested Abbasi after which he remained behind bars for some days and was released on bail on the order of the Islamabad High Court.

During the hearing today, the court set November 16 and summoned all others accused in the case. Other accused are Miftah Ismail, Sheikh Imranul Haq, Uzma Adil Khan, Hussain Dawood, while the court said the case of Philip Natman and Shina Sadiq will be heard separately, local media reported.

Shahid's lawyer told the court that the bureau has claimed that the project is still running at a loss. How can a person be indicted in a case that is still ongoing, he asked. The accountability court replied that the former PM will be provided with all documents before the indictment.
