KARACHI: The spokesperson of National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in a press statement, has condemned a raid by NAB at the institute. The NAB has not shared any prior information with the NICVD for any record. The NAB’s raid on the institute which provides free treatment is unjustified and source of stress among doctors and other staff of the institute.

The NAB has always been offered cooperation whenever it sought any details. The NAB is fully co-operated by NICVD, whenever they have asked for any record, they have been provided in hard and soft copy as per their template. Senior professors and other officers have also appeared before NAB.

The spokesman said that five years ago there was only one NICVD and money was collected from patients but the current management of NICVD has laid a network of 28 hospitals across Sindh province in a short span of a few years, shortly more centres will be inaugurated. The healthcare network of NICVD offering totally free of cost services to millions of cardiac patients from all over the country every year. Some ghost employees were involved in wrongdoing and will be prosecuted under hospital law. “Despite these raids, we will continue to serve patients without fear, as our first priority is to provide treatment to patients,” the NICVD spokesman said.—PR
