Pakistan condemns desecration of Holy Quran in Norway, Sweden

Pakistan has strongly condemned the incidents in Sweden and Norway where copies of the Holy Quran were reportedly burnt.
In a tweet, Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri wrote that the rise of such Islamophobic occurrences goes against the spirit of any religion. Adding that freedom of speech cannot justify religious hatred.
"Ensuring respect for religious beliefs of others is a collective responsibility and is absolutely critical for global peace & prosperity," Chaudhri added.

On Friday, a copy of the Holy Quran was burned by supporters of Rasmus Paludan, the leader of Danish far-right party Stram Kurs (Tight Direction), in Malmo, Sweden, Anadolu Agency reported.
Meanwhile, in Oslo, a protester tore out pages of the Quran and spat on them.
