Zafar Mirza resigns as SAPM on Health

  • He said he has resigned due to the ongoing negative discussion about the role of SAPMs and criticism on the government.

Dr Zafar Mirza resigned on Wednesday as Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) Imran Khan on Health.

In a tweet today, Mirza announced his resignation and said that he left World Health Organization and came to Pakistan on the invitation of the PM. He said he worked hard and served Pakistan honestly.

He further said that he has resigned due to the ongoing negative discussion about the role of SAPMs and criticism on the government.

"I am satisfied that I leave at a time when COVID-19 has declined in Pakistan as a result of a grand national effort," he tweeted.

He further said that the country will emerge out of COVID-19 with a stronger health care system.
