Coronavirus pandemic: PM orders strict implementation of SOPs on Eid-ul-Adha

(Karachi) Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that in wake of the coronavirus outbreak, there is need to strictly implement precautionary measures and standard operating procedure on Eid-ul-Adha.

Chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday to review COVID-19 situation in the country, he said sessions of the National Command and Operation Centre must be held to make the administrative measures more effective through cooperation and coordination with the provincial governments.

On the occasion, officials apprised the PM about the coronavirus pandemic in the country, positive results of the smart lockdown strategy, and the strategy to check the spread of virus during Eid-ul-Adha and Muharram.

They told the prime minister that district administrations imposed smart lockdowns at 227 locations in 30 cities across the country that yielded positive results.

The meeting was apprised about the ineffectiveness of complete lockdown strategy implement in regional countries as death ratio increased there after the lockdown was lifted for economic concerns.

Imran Khan was briefed that burden on hospitals has decreased with reduced number of corona cases.

The PM expressed satisfaction over positive results of efforts aimed at stemming the pandemic.
