Airlines instructed to ensure transparency in licensing of pilots: Faraz

  • Minister says all degrees of airline staff will be verified while pilots whose licenses were found to be suspicious have been terminated from service

(Karachi) Information Minister Shibli Faraz has said that the federal government has initiated reforms process in Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and all airlines of the country have been asked to ensure transparency in procedures and licensing of pilots.

Addressing a press briefing in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said that pilots with dubious credentials have been grounded forthwith. He said the pilots whose licenses were found to be suspicious have been terminated from service.

Faraz mentioned five employees of CAA have also been grounded till the process is completed. He said, "Degrees of all airline staff will be verified."

He maintained that the cabinet also approved three projects like the Kohala Hydro Power project. The minister highlighted that the PM has instructed the officials to work on renewable energy schemes.

Shibli Faraz said the prime minister directed to activate provincial finance commission in order for equitable development in all parts of provinces in an organized way and without any undue influence. This will also help remove sense of deprivation among residents of different areas in a province.

He said the PM directed to form a committee to look into public sector projects to be undertaken on reduced costs and improved quality. The committee will submit its report in 90 days to the PM.
