Pakistan’s superstar batsman Babar Azam is anxiously waiting to play alongside legendary Shahid Afridi, as he never played with the veteran all-rounder.

Azam will be representing Karachi Kings in the third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) starting from February 22.

In an interview, Azam revealed that he hasn’t played with Afridi and said, “It will be a great experience to play with him. I have never played with him before and I am hoping to have a lot of fun playing alongside [Afridi].”

With the ambition to put up a good show in forth coming edition of the tournament, Azam said his team will put a good show in the third edition of the league under the captaincy of Imad Wasim.

“I have played under his captaincy in regional games and we are playing together for quite some time now, so it will be fun playing under him,” Azam added. The 23-year-old further said, “He is mentally very strong, he was also impressive as Pakistan U-19 captain in World Cup 2007.”

Wasim, who previously captained Pakistan’s under-19 side in the World Cup 2007 and took the team to the semi-final, was named as captain of the side following the departure of Shaoib Malik to Multan Sultans.

Speaking about Kings’ coaching staff, he said, “Mickey Arthur is doing a great job for the last couple of years for Pakistan, he will do the same for Karachi Kings and will formulate game plans for the team in PSL as he does for the national side.”

Giving his views over PSL matches in Pakistan, the right handed batsman said, “We are motivated by the fact that the final of PSL is scheduled in Karachi. We are confident that we will play the final of the tournament in Karachi.”
