Doctors must focus on acquiring knowledge about advancements in modern research in medical science in order to cure human diseases in an effective manner. Training workshops, symposiums and seminars can be very useful forum to serve this purpose and everyone affiliated with medical profession can get guidance from such events.
These views were expressed by Ex Professor of Surgery, King Edward Medical University Professor Dr Syed Zafar Haider while addressing as chief guest at the concluding ceremony of training workshops held at Lahore General Hospital, here on Sunday. During the function, four best research article writer doctors were honoured with prizes and shields. Renowned medical experts including Professor Anjam Habib Vohra, Professor Ejaz Hassan, Professor Khalid Bashir, Professor Ahmed Salman Waris, Professor Muhammad Iqbal, Professor Najam ul Hassan, Professor Agha Shabbir Ali and Professor Rashid Latif Khan delivered the special lectures during these workshops which continued for six days. Professor Dr Syed Zafar Haider said in his address that we are living in the age of information technology and doctors must utilise IT as an effective tool to find out new methods of curing human diseases.
He hailed the efforts of Professor Dr Tariq Salah ud Din for conducting such events especially second annual scientific symposium which also help promoting inter province harmony as doctors from all over the country participate in workshops. He also lauded the decision to name the proposed medical college after Emirates Professor of Surgery Dr Ameer ud Din terming him a great surgeon as well as a great philanthropist of his age. Speaking on the occasion Principal PGMI Professor Dr Tariq Salah ud Din said that PGMI is playing pivotal role for doctor's specialization, medical research and keeping the doctors updated.
He said that PGMI offers all basic facilities including internet and digital library to doctors so that they could get on-line knowledge about modern advancements from the prominent universities of the world. Dr Tariq also stressed the need to wage a vigorous sensitisation campaign against dengue to wipe it out permanently from our cities. Those who received prizes for best research studies included Dr Faisal, Dr Aruba, Dr Bilal and Dr Sharjeel. Administrative Coordinator Dr Faryad Hussain and Chief Sanitary Inspector Tariq Mahmood were also given shields.
