KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar inaugurated reconstructed Korangi Model Library in Korangi No.5 here on Friday.
The Mayor while talking to the media said it was good to see a library equipped with better facilities being inaugurated in the Korangi area which would provide good opportunity to young and old persons especially students to come here and study the subjects and different topics, said a statement.
He said libraries were essential in every society, though computer too is very important but the trend of libraries must not be diminished.
He said district Korangi has maximum number of libraries and schools in Karachi which is a proof of educated Korangi and this has been a gift to the people from their elected representatives.
He said not only in china cutting but irregularities were also done in the provision of lease to Goth Abad schemes and Katchi Abadies. He said he had request the judiciary to probe the matter of all old loans.
Mayor Karachi said besides action against china cutting we also want to end the other unauthorized land grabbing in Karachi.
He said encroachments must be removed to save the citizens from inconvenience in their daily life.
He said all over the world libraries play key role in spreading the knowledge among the people and that is why all developed countries have modern and latest equipments and facilities in their libraries which are provided free of cost to everyone.
Chairman of DMC Korangi Nayyar Raza and vice chairman Ahmer Ali whereas chairman of work committee Hasan Naqvi, chairman parks committee Khurram Farhan, chairman Katchi Abadies Sad bin Jafar, director of libraries Arifa Tariq, director general works and other elected representatives and officers were also present on this occasion.
