ISLAMABAD: Indus River System Authority (IRSA) Friday reduced water releases from Tarbela and Manga dams with immediate in view of Annual Canal Closure scheduled to start from December 25.
According to IRSA spokesman water discharge from Tarbela has been reduced to 8000 cusecs from 18,000 cusecs.
Similarly, he said Mangla outflow has been decreased to 10,000 cusecs from 15,000 cusecs with immediate effect. Water discharge from Mangla would be further reduced to 5,000 cusecs from 10,000 cusecs from December 25, the spokesman said.
Similarly, he said that indent of Sindh would be reduced to 10,000 cusecs from 20,000 cusecs from December 25 while Punjab’s indent has already been decreased to 25,000 cusecs from 40,000 cusecs.
The spokesman said share of Balochistan has also been reduced to 2,500 cusecs from 5,000 cusecs while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would continue to draw 3,000 cusecs.
