Indian extremist threatens to cut Deepika Padukone’s nose
Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is facing some intense backlash from a member of extremist fringe group in Rajasthan called Rajput Karni Sena, who has threatened to cut her nose and behead Sanjay Leela Bhansali for their upcoming movie ‘Padmavati’.
The movie in question is based on the historic event and life of ‘Rani Padmavati’ played by Deepika. The descendants of the family, the Rajputs, are protesting against the alleged wrong portrayal of her character in the movie.
"Rajputs never raise a hand on women but if need be, we will do to Deepika what Lakshman did to Shurpanakha," said Mahipal Singh Makrana, a member of the group in a video released on social media, referring to Lakshman's act of cutting Shurpanakha's nose.
Mumbai Police has increased the security of the actress after the threat. "We are providing her adequate security after the threat. The police will provide security at her residence, as well as office, in Mumbai," senior Mumbai police officer Deven Bharti told news agency Press Trust of India, Hindustan Times reported.

It is also said that the Rajputs are claiming that the movie is wrongfully implying a romantic relationship between the queen and the emperor Alauddin Khilji. However, the filmmakers have denied these allegations repeatedly but the extremist groups are still adamant on their stance.
Recently, Deepika spoke on the issue and said, "It's appalling and it’s absolutely appalling. What have we gotten ourselves into? And where have we reached as a nation? We have regressed."
The movie is scheduled to release on December 1 and also stars Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.
