Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone was in conversation with an international news channel when the actress spoke on the latest ban imposed by Pakistan Censor Board on the Pakistani movie ‘Verna’ starring Mahira Khan.

Deepika is currently being extremely cautious of what to speak on, as her upcoming movie ‘Padmavati’ is facing one controversy after another, with death threats and anguish from a particular group of the country. Deepika's movie is also facing a similar problem as Mahira's movie, because many groups have demanded a ban of 'Padmavati'.

When asked about the ban on Mahira's film ‘Verna’ and whether people are too quick to judge films, Deepika said, “Yes, it’s sad that a small section of people don’t understand the power of cinema and what it can do to the world."

"It brings people together, it spreads love, it’s fascinating what cinema can do and it’s sad that a certain group of people choose to not recognize that,” Deepika added, Pinkvilla reported.

The actress also spoke on her part in her movie as ‘Rani Padmavati’ and expressed her astonishment over the negative reaction on the movie. “It’s amusing actually sometimes when I look at it and I actually look at this as a moment for all of us to be celebrating this woman’s life. To celebrate everything she stood for, to celebrate everything that she believed in, to celebrate Rajput culture and heritage. This is a time for us to celebrate really,” the actress said.

‘Padmavati’ is all set to release on December 1 and also stars Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.
