Dubai police introduces hoverbikes for officers

Dubai police has just recently declared about its new hoverbikes for its officers.

Named ‘The Hoversurf Scorpion’, the hoverbikes were revealed at the Gitex Technology Week conference. The bikes are Russian-made craft and contain the ability to fly at speeds up to 70 kilometers per hour with a height of five meters (16.4 feet). The hoverbikes will carry a police officer over crowded traffic during emergency circumstances.

First Sergeant Ali Ahmad Mohammad informed Gulf News, “The bike can also fly without a passenger and can go up to six kilometers. It can fly for 25 minutes and can carry up to 300kg of weight at a speed of 70kph.”

Dubai to build a Mars-like city

The Hoversurf company and Dubai police signed a memorandum of understanding in order to mass produce the craft in Dubai area, posted Hoversurf CEO Alexander Atamanov on social media site Facebook.

The police also disclosed a smart electric motorbike that consists of numerous cameras for detecting reckless drivers. Along with that, a small driverless robotic vehicle was also unveiled that is equipped with biometric software for scanning criminals and people of interest as they patrol various parts of the city, reported ABC News.

Brigadier Khalid Nasser Al Razooqi, the director of Smart Services Department at Dubai Police explained, “It can recognize people in any area and identify suspicious objects and can track suspects. It will be deployed at tourist destinations in Dubai. It has cameras and will be linked to the command room.”

However, this is not the first futuristic thing in Dubai. Earlier this year, water jetpacks were also introduced for firefighting. Other than that, 3D-printed buildings, hovertaxis and Mars stimulation city are also an addition to the cutting-edge technology in Dubai.
