Advancing towards technology, Australia is set to start up its own first ever national space agency.

Australian government has revealed plans to manufacture its very own national space agency. The acting industry minister Michaelia Cash claimed that since the space industry is growing rapidly, it is important for them to keep up with it. However, the government has not yet given much detail about the project.

Cash expressed, “A national space agency will ensure we have a strategic long-term plan that supports the development and application of space technologies and grows our domestic space industry. The agency will be the anchor for our domestic co-ordination and the front door for our international engagement.”

According to BBC, the Space Industry Association of Australia believe that because of the country’s location, geographical size and low population, Australia can successfully expand its space technologies. Cash exclaimed that the response from a review into the industry showed that country is really in need of a space agency.

Astrophysicist Alan Duffy also believed that this agency’s announcement would largely expand the number of Australian jobs in space. “We have longstanding ties with NASA, exploring space together and generating all of these jobs. And that's the key point of both the Government's and Labor's plans, it is a jobs industry-first agency,” he told ABC News.

The Australian government did not yet reveal where the agency will be based. However, according to South Australian Senator Simon Birmingham, the agency’s location will surely be of an advantage to the state. “Given our unique geography, we can be confident that South Australia will be central and a key beneficiary of any growth related to space agency-type activity.”
