'Government takes steps to encourage private sector for provision of health facilities'

The Punjab Population Welfare Minister, Neelam Jabbar Chaudhry has said that the government is taking all possible measures to facilitate private sector for the provision of standardised medicines & healthcare facilities to the people at the reasonable prices.
Moreover, she called upon the philanthropists to utilise their resources and contribute certain amount from their income or welfare-oriented healthcare activities to upgrade basic health facilities to all.
While talking to delegations of women and members of NGOs, she said that sewing machines, as a part of publicity campaign, would be distributed among deserving women by the department as well as new family welfare centres will also be established in the province to achieve the goal of provision of basic maternal and child healthcare facilities.
Furthermore, she said that the government would not only encourage the private entrepreneurs for such purpose but also their confidence would be rebuilt in this way. She said that the government was being patronising the private sector to establish standardised pharmaceutical industry for the provision of quality medicines to the people.
The minister said that the government will ensure supply of standardised medicines to the people and the relevant laws will be strictly implemented. The minister said that the government has restored the confidence of the philanthropists therefore, the donors come forward and to play their role for the provision of standardised medical facilities to the masses.
