Shipping activity at Port Qasim
KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the Port where four ships carrying containers, chemicals, palm oil and diesel oil were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively during last 24 hours.
Meanwhile two more ships carrying palm oil and furnace oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the same period.
Berth occupancy was managed at the Port at 62 percent on Sunday where nine ships namely C.V Maersk Utah, C.V Izumo, M.V Alexi, M.V Safina-2, M.T Golden Ambrosia, M.T Bunga Alamanda, M.T Al-Salam-Il, M.T Pertiwi and M.V Kiran Africa are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, chemicals, palm oil, diesel oil, phosphoric acid and sunflower seeds respectively during last 24 hours.
A cargo volume of 96,869 tonnes, comprising 87,194 tonnes imports and 9,675 tonnes exports inclusive containerized cargo carried in 1,495 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.
Two ships container ship lzumo and chemicals carrier Pertiwi sailed out to sea on Monday morning while two more ships M.T Al-Salam-2 and M.V Kiran Africa are expected to sail on same day afternoon.
Three ships C.V Maersk Utah, M.T Fair Spirit and M.T Siva Coral carrying containers, furnace oil and LPG are expected to take berths at QICT, FOTCO and EVTL respectively on Monday, November 14, while two more container ships Deira and Maersk Kalamata are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Tuesday, November 15.
