Where there is a will there is a way, the age old quote sits well on Zeyan Shafiq, a teenager, from Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) who has developed his very own social media network for the locals of the occupied valley.
Meet ‘Kashbook,’ as the name suggests the Android app which has attracted thousands of people is an alternative to social networking sites after the ban on social media imposed by India in held Jammu & Kashmir.
“The government has blocked access to all the social networks and they are blocking VPNs too. So, when they’ll block the whole access to social media then how will people from valley stay connected with each other? KashBook is the answer to social media gag,” Zeyan said was quoted as saying by Times of India.
The Indian government on April 26, banned all social media in IoK because, as they alleged that the medium was being misused. The ban was placed on Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, QQ, WeChat, Ozone, Tumblr, Google+, Baidu, Skype, Viber, Line, Snapchat, Pinterest, Telegram and Reditt.
