Romania should review a 2004 privatisation contract and sale of its leading oil and gas firm Petrom to Austria's OMV with the possibility of cancelling the deal, Finance and Economy Minister Varujan Vosganian said.
"Petrom was unfortunately sold in a hurry because of its precarious financial situation. I too have distrust towards the fairness of that privatisation," local daily Adevarul quoted Vosganian as saying at a meeting of his ruling Liberal Party. "I recommend that AVAS (privatisation agency) verifies with great care all deadlines to see if Petrom is fulfilling its obligations".
