ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Textile Industry on Thursday stressed the need for continuous energy supply to the important sector of Textiles, besides producing trained work force and to control the labour cost for the benefit of the country.
The meeting of the Committee was held in the Committee room of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) at Sialkot under the chairmanship of Member National Assembly (MNA) Haji Muhammad Akram Ansari on Thursday.
The Chairman welcome the Members of the Committee, Usman Ibrahim, Miss Tasneem Siddiqui and Abdul Rashid Godil, MNAs.
Chairman Pakistan Readymage Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA), Ijaz A Khokhar welcome the Standing Committee in the Sialkot.
He also thanked the Committee for holding such a important meeting at Sialkot and added this is for the first time that a Standing Committee is being held at Sialkot.
He highlighted few important things about Sialkot and said that the Sialkot, is known as unique city of producing Football, Sports Goods, Surgical & Beauty Care Instruments, Badges, Musical Instruments, Leather Garments, and Sports, Fitness Gloves and Readymade Garments.
The city of Sialkot has become the 4th largest producer of Readymade Garments and Sports Wears, particularly in Martial Arts Uniforms, Sialkot Exports are 30% of the World wide consumption of Martial Arts Uniforms.
Ijaz Khokhar suggested some proposals which Committee highly appreciated. Responding to the proposals and suggesting the Chairman of the Standing Committee Muhammad Akram Ansari said that the textile and Garment Industry are the major contributors to the economy of Pakistan.
"The garment Industry has a sizeable share in the total export of Pakistan", he remarked.
He observed that now in current incoming business flow this sizable share can be increased exponentially by producing trained work force and to control the labour cost.
By doing this, Pakistan will become a favored choice for outsourcing of major brands, he remarked.
For trained human resource the committee appreciated the idea of "Pakistan Readymade Garments Technical Training Institute" is mandatory for Sialkot Garment Industry.
The Chairman Haji Muhammad Akram Ansari also stressed on continuous energy supply to the Important sector of Textiles, Ministries and PRGMEA interaction was also ensured by taking them on board on every level including draft bill review, policy review and its implementation etc.
In the end the Chairman thanked his Members and Chairman PRGMEA for hosting the Committee.
