Conquering the Australian territory has remained a dream yet to be realized for any Asian side including Pakistan.
Despite the recent feat of achievements by Pakistan in the games purest form, Captain Misbah and his men are likely to find it difficult to seize the Koh-i-noor of test cricket by defeating Aussies in their own backyard, and become the best Test side ever produced by Pakistan.
Under leadership of Misbah-ul Haq, who has been the force responsible in taking Pakistan to heights unreached, the team became the Number one Test side, albeit for a brief period.
Whereas, looking at the ICCs Test rankings, Australia and Pakistan, ranked third and fourth respectively in Tests, are poised for a closely fought series that can be described as a contest of equals. However, for Misbah the upcoming series is his toughest challenge yet.
"It is arguably toughest of all the countries along with South Africa because of the bounce and pace in the wickets. Maybe that is why no Asian side has ever won a Test series at these two places and that will be a huge motivation for us," said Mibah, reported cricket.com.au.
Misbah-ul Haq admitted that the teams before his side, all more endowed and talented including the one led by the legendry Imran Khan and the powerful 1999 Test side led by Wasim Akram, were unable to second the gritty Aussies.
However, the record books have yet to deter Misbah, who believes that his team has what it takes to do something unprecedented.
"Many great Pakistan teams have been to these shores before but left without winning so our goal in this series will be to conquer an unchartered territory. I feel this team has the potential to be the first Pakistan side to win a Test series in Australia."
Pakistan is scheduled to play its first Test against Australia on Thursday at the Gabba, Brisbane.
