imageISLAMABAD: Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination, Riaz Hussain Pirzada on Wednesday said that Pakistan Sports Board (PCB) was striving hard to achieve the objectives of its establishment.

He told National Assembly (NA) that although the sports sector was a dissolved subject but the federal government was making commendable efforts for the uplift of the sector and it has been allocated a special fund for the help of renowned retired and old players of all sports categories.

He said that with the efforts of PCB the standard of sports have been uplifted, adding recently the Pakistan Cricket team has clean sweep against the world champion West Indies and it was only because of positive changes in the policies.

Riaz Pirzada said that the last tour of cricket team to England was also better.

"We have won a medal in the RIO Olympics, which was a great achievement", he said. The present government, he said, was utilizing more funds for the uplift of the sports sector than the in the past.

In the past the terrorism was the major hurdle in the development of the sports sector, he added.

Replying to a question, he said that we are making efforts for the promotion of the sports in the country with the coordination of the provincial canters.

He said a national games program was planed in Balochistan but due to the incident of terrorism, it has been cancelled.

"We can not hold any sports event in the Balochistan without clearance of the security agencies" he added.

He said that Prime Minister saw the cricket match between Pakistan and England in which rival team secured 444 runs against our team, and on his instruction we have made major changes in the PCB and now the performance of cricket team has been improved. We are ready to play against India also, he said.

The government and Pakistan Sports Board have taken back all financial help and control of the Pakistan Foot Ball Federation due the dispute between the two levelled organizations of the foot ball. "We have conducted Quaid-e-Azam trophy in which 25000 young's were participated and it was organized by the civil institution first time in the history of Pakistan, he informed.

We are planning to organize a Hockey camp for which the funds will be allocated by the federal government, he said.
