The Consul General of Sri Lanka, Ms Manel D'Silva has advised Pakistani women entrepreneurs to help rural area women entrepreneurs to get their due share in business activity.
Speaking at the second meeting of women entrepreneur sub-committee of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Monday, she said that women of Karachi are well-educated and have the know-how of businesses, but the women of rural areas did not know how to do business and how to get market access.
The consul general also advised Pakistanis to provide best education to their daughters and encourage them to take active part in business activities.
Ms D'Silva said that although women in Pakistan are well educated and initially taking active part in services and business activity but later they left the job after getting marriage. This trend must be discouraged.
She assured women entrepreneurs that she will provide all possible assistance and guidance to women entrepreneurs who wish to do business with Sri Lanka
She congratulated the KCCI on establishing women sub-committee, and hoped that one day a woman would become president of the KCCI.
Speaking on the occasion, KCCI President Khalid Firoz informed business community that the federal government has released Rs 5 million for the KCCI research and development department.
He said that KCCI is updating its web site and soon it would be made more useful and informative.
Replying to a question about availability of feasibility reports, he advised KCCI women members to identify areas in which they are interested and seeking feasibility reports, saying the KCCI research and development department is quite advance and it can help as well as guide you in all fields of business activities.
KCCI Senior Vice-President and its Women Entrepreneurs Sub-committee Chairman Mian Abrar Ahmed said the aim of KCCI is to make this committee a success.
He called upon the members of the sub-committee to work for the cause of the women entrepreneurs in the country, in general and for betterment of Karachi-based businesswomen in particular.
He said the next meeting of the committee would be held after forthcoming election of the KCCI.
