Former Karachi Nazim Naimatullah Khan said on Friday that "White Paper" would be published soon on rigging, bogus voting in local bodies polls in Karachi. "A strategy will be announced shortly in this regard, for which all political parties are being approached," he told the newsmen at a hurriedly called press conference at Idara Noor-e-Haq.
Naimatullah vowed to resist all the moves to hand-over the city to terrorists, adding that people of Karachi would not be left alone at this crucial moment.
Accusing Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) of committing massive rigging, bogus voting and taking control of polling stations, the former Nazim termed all these attempts to deprive the people from their democratic right.
"If such negative acts to sabotage the democratic process are carried on even in the presence of law enforcement agencies, the whole edifice of this system will collapse," he cautioned and warned that such acts would give birth to new dimension of extremism.
Referring to alleged rigging and filling of ballot boxes before the start of polling in UC-4 Saddar Town, Naimatullah said that who knows how many ballot boxes would have been filled before the polling took place in Karachi.
He remarked that only this one act of rigging caused dent to the credibility of Election Commission (EC), which lost the people trust, and alleged that post-poll rigging is still going on as MQM ministers and MNAs Shoaib Bokhari, Rauf Siddiqui, Kanwar Khalid Younas and Haider Abbas Rizvi are sitting in Sir Syed College with Returning Officer and stamping the pads to change the results of successful candidates of Al-Khidmat.
Naimatullah pointed out that EC's announcement to release the official Karachi results after two days of polling is a source of concern for people, adding that in this modern era, such announcements cast shadows on the whole election process. The former Nazim demanded of President General Pervez Musharraf to take the notice of massive excesses by the MQM as local government system is his brainchild and a conspiracy is being hatched to destroy it.
Regarding arrival of MQM deputy convenor Dr Farooq Sattar at Idara Noor-e-Haq, he explained that such visits could only be beneficial when each party has good intentions.
"There is only one way to make the reciprocal visits beneficial: MQM chief Altaf Hussain and Dr Farooq Sattar should admit their excesses," he added. Naimatullah stated: "I had told Farooq Sattar that Muttahida will have to admit what happened in last 20 years and what is happening now. They would have to admit the acts of extortion, killing and terrorism."
