Judicial Magistrate South, Naheed Jabbar on Friday admitted Muhammad Asif, Presiding Officer in August 18 elections to bail against a surety of Rs 20,000. Eidgah police arrested him on Thursday after complaint from a candidate that accused deputy director in City District government Karachi was resorting to rigging.
Tariq Hamza advocate appearing for the accused submitted that a false case was foisted upon his client. The police acted in haste and without any evidence booked the applicant accused under section 171-F and 511 PPC, he said.
The counsel also submitted that accused was government servant and there was no chance that he would abscond.
The JM after hearing the counsel, admitted the accused to bail against a solvent surety of Re 20,000.
