5 Corps Commander Lieutenant General Athar Ali on Tuesday visited various parts of the city to review security arrangements made by Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) in connection with the forthcoming local bodies elections 2005. Besides Director General Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) Major General Javed Zia and GOC 5 Corps Reserve Major General Sadaqat Ali Shah, senior officers of Pakistan Rangers and Pakistan Army accompanied him during the visit.
Colonel Amir Mustafa Bajwa briefed the Corps Commander about all security arrangements in Headquarters, Bhitai Rangers.
The Corps Commander visited a Complaint Cell in Saudabad, Malir, where he exchanged views with Rangers, Police and Election Commission staff present there.
General Athar also visited a polling station where a full-dress rehearsal of Polling Day was demonstrated.
Later, the Corps Commander visited a Brigade Headquarters in National Museum where he was briefed about the Brigade's role in support of Rangers during local bodies elections.
He expressed satisfaction over effective and comprehensive arrangements by Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and said that these arrangements were sufficient for maintaining security and law and order situation during the election.
