Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan will formally inaugurate "Koocha-e-Saqafat" at M.R. Kiyani Road here on Sunday. A few days back, the governor had paid a two-hour long visit to Koocha-e-Saqafat where he met with artists, poets, musicians, street theatre artists, artisans and booksellers and appreciated the successful efforts of Arts Council.
On the occasion he had also announced an amount of Rs 5 million for the erection of a 30-feet high beautiful fibre-made roof at M.R. Kiyani Road and expressed the desire for holding activities related to fine arts and city's artisan daily after sunset.
It may be mentioned here that in order to organise Koocha-e-Saqafat, the governor made available Rs 0.5 million twice.
According to the organisers, publicity banners and sale of branded items is not allowed in Koocha-e-Saqafat so as to make it a cultural symbol of the city on purely non-commercial basis.
On Sunday it will be the 12th programme of Koocha-e-Saqafat where art works of legendary artist Sadequain, Jami Naqsh, Tariq Javed and Mansoor would be put on display.
The special event committee of arts council of Pakistan is also organising a Mehfil in memory of internationally reputed Qawaal late Ghulam Fareed Sabri at 9.00 pm at the arts council.
Amjad Sabri, son of late Ghulam Fareed will present spiritual Kalam on the occasion.
