Water level in River Indus at Dera Ismail Khan was rising to a high point as downstream flow from Chashma Barrage has hit alarming 403,000 cusecs. Chashma Barrage executive engineer Malik Manzoor has said water discharge from Chashma was shot up to 403,000 cusecs from 340,000 cusecs.
Water flow was swelling with continuous discharge from Tarbela dam and high flowing River Kabul. Heavy rainfall in upper areas of the country adding more water to already rising river levels, as water discharge from Chashma being expected to shoot up to as high as 500,000 cusecs.
Troops were deployed at Dera Ismail Khan from Kohat to meet any flood contingency. District administration has tightened monitoring of embankments along the river.
According to latest report, River Swat at Munda headwork is in very high flood where discharge of water was recorded at 50,680 cusecs.
River Kabul at Warsak and Nowshera was also in high flood where discharge of water was 103,810 and 169,300 cusecs, respectively.
DETAILS OF FLOOD SITUATION AND FLOW OF WATER IS AS UNDER: River Indus at Attock was in high flood where discharge of water was 534,400 cusecs of water. Water discharge in River Khiali was 52,773 cusecs. River Swat at Amandara headwork was in medium flood with 35,087 cusecs water discharge.
River Kaitu at Spinwam was in medium flood where discharge of water was 6041 cusecs. River Indus at Chashma and Tarbela was in low flood with water discharge of 398,583 and 355,900 cusecs, respectively.
However, remaining rivers of the province were flowing normally.
