ISLAMABAD: A cross section of society has said that Pakistan Railways' decision to reduce its fare by 25 percent on Eid-ul-Azha holidays would encourage passengers to frequently use this mode of travel.
The majority of middle class passengers welcomed the decision of Pakistan Railways.
It was pertinent to mention here that Pakistan Railways had announced 25 percent concession in railway fares on second and third days of Eid-ul-Azha.
Aqib Saleem, a passenger, who went Rawalpindi railway station for booking his seats for Karachi told this agency, " the latest initiative of Pakistan Railways would help increasing the number of passengers as people love to travel on trains."
However, he said, steps are also required from the management of Pakistan Railways to make sure that trains arrive on time during Eid days.
Another passenger Muhammad Ali said that rail is cheapest and safest mode of travel but in the last many years it was ignored.
"Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique has taken many positive initiatives to attract passengers immediately after assuming charge of the ministry,"he said.
A family traveling to Lahore, said train was the best mode of journey with children and reduction of fare would help Pakistan Railways to earn more money.
