Sliding trend continued in the open market on Saturday as the rupee extended its fall versus dollar on pressure buying of the US currency, shedding 15 paisa for buying at Rs 60.40 and 20 paisa for selling at Rs 60.50. The rupee failed to retain its firmness on increased demand for dollars by interbank market, dealers said. In the overseas markets, the dollar maintained its firmness in terms of other currencies on the back of positive economic data.
INTERBANK RATES: The rupee did not show any change versus dollar for buying and selling at Rs 59.50 and Rs 59.52, respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee closed the week on a negative note, as it shed its value by 20-paisa in relation to the greenback in the local currency markets.
According to the currency dealers, the dollar resumed trading at overnight closing rates of Rs 60.25 and Rs 60.35 on buying and selling counters, respectively.
Following surge in the dollar's demand, the dollar appreciated its worth and closed at Rs 60.45 and Rs 60.55 on buying and selling counters, respectively.
Similarly, the local currency lost its worth against the British pound. The pound was traded at Rs 112.60 and Rs 112.80 on buying and selling sides respectively, as compared to Rs 112.20 and Rs 112.60 of Friday. RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee remained firm against the dollar at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Saturday.
The dollar opened at Rs 59.60 (buying) and Rs 59.70 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe any further change in the second spell and closed at Rs 59.60 (buying) and Rs 59.70 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 113.30 (buying) and Rs 113.80 (selling) against same previous rate. It did not observe any change in the second session and closed at Rs 113.30 (buying) and Rs 113.80 (selling).
