Shipping activity at Port Qasim
KARACHI: Brisk shipping was observed at the Port where six ships scheduled to load-offload containers, cement and chemicals were berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Thursday, October 06.
Meanwhile three more container ships also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was recorded at the Port at 92% on Thursday where a total of thirteen ships namely C.V Maersk Daven Port, C.V Nicoline Maersk, C.V Northern Power, C.V MSC Anafi, M.V Opal-II, M.V Hiba Al-Nour-B, M.V Alexi-I, M.T SC Liaoning, M.V Kaya Pioneer M.V Safina-2, M.V Acena, M.T Clipper Hermes and M.T Remi are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, corn, rice, chemicals, palm oil, iron ore and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
A record cargo handling was achieved at the Port on Thursday where a cargo volume of 0.13 million tonnes, comprising 0.102 million tonnes imports and 0.032 million tonnes exports, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 4,681 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.
A total of six ships C.V Maersk Daven Port, C.V Nicoline Maersk, C.V Northern Power, M.V Alexi-I, M.T SC liaoning and M.T Remi sailed out to sea on Friday morning.
Five ships C.V Saigon Express, C.V Nala Delmas, C.V MSC Jade, M.T Sky Dream and M.T Serengeti carrying containers, palm oil and diesel oil are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Liquid Terminal and FOTCO Terminal respectively on Friday, 7 while edible oil Veseel Ginga Merline is due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day.
