The Karachi United Football Club achieved a historic first by being the first team from Pakistan to visit one of the premier football clubs of the world - the Manchester United.
The Karachi United Football club (established in 1996) has in a relatively short period of time gained a sound reputation for their achievements both on and off the field.
Their latest achievement is a weeklong tour of their Youth Academy Team to Manchester United Soccer Schools (MUSS), sponsored by the ABN Amro.
At a post tour, press briefing held at local hotel, Imran Ali, director, youth program, at the club stated that during the visit to Manchester United the boys were coached by a Manchester United coach dedicated for the week to KU, and also played three matches against tough opposition.
Whilst the KU team was unable to win any of the games, Imran Ali expressed great satisfaction in the invaluable knowledge and experience gained from the tour.
He said the tour was not possible without the support of sponsors, the ABN Amro.
He was of the view that the tour was not about winning or losing but to enable boys to experience coaching and competition at the highest level.
Imran was also very pleased that the boys took part in seminars relating to diet and on other football related subject to understand what is required to become a top quality professional footballer and further develop their football brains.
Apart form playing matches, the high point of the tour was the KU team's visit to see the Manchester United first team training at their facility at Carrington.
The boys rubbed shoulders with the Manchester United elite including Manager Alex Ferguson, Assistant Manager, Carlos Queiroz (former manager of Real Madrid), and players such as Roy Keane, Alan Smith and Rio Ferdinand.-PR
