Danish shipping and oil group A. P. Moeller-Maersk has won a price bid to develop and operate an Indian shipping port, the company said on Monday.
"We expect it's only formalities before we get the approval for the Jawaharlal Nehru Port," a Maersk spokeswoman told Reuters.
According to Indian financial daily Business Line, Maersk will be given a 30-year licence to operate the state-owned Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) in the western state of Maharashtra, south of Bombay.
Maersk, which also has shipping operations in India, had placed its bid for JNPT together with its local joint-venture partner, logistics company Concor.
Indian Business Insight said the consortium had been offered a revenue share of 35.503 percent, but Maersk declined to comment on this and on the length of the contract.
