The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has decided to computerise its revenue and land record by the end of July in collaboration with the Ministry of Information Technology (IT).
The office of deputy commissioner and IT ministry have jointly developed a software to completely computerise records of all the attached departments of the district administration.
Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Tariq Mahmood Pirzada informed Interior Minister Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat here on Friday on the launching of the Islamabad DC office website: www.dcislamabad.com.
Faisal while appreciating the landmark achievement of the district administration also directed the capital police to develop its website for public facilitation.
This will not only help the government in maintaining official record but also facilitate the general public, he said.
Provision of all forms on the website is a commendable effort, which will ultimately save people's precious time, he added.
The interior minister said that it is the first step towards e-government, which would improve the functioning of district administration and its allied departments, besides facilitating the people who are connected directly or indirectly with these departments.
He also directed the ICT administration to ensure timely update of the website.
Faisal expressed dismay over manual keeping of land/revenue records due to which thousands of people in the federal capital are suffering. He asked the deputy commissioner to ensure transparency during the process of computerisation of land records.
Briefing about the website, Tariq Mahmood Pirzada said that the information pertaining to eight subsidiary departments of the capital administration like Auqaf, Civil Defence, Co-operative Societies, District Health Office, District Food, District Attorney, Excise & Taxation and Local Government & Rural Development will be available on this website.
Tariq Pirzada informed the interior minister that the present capital administration started administrative functioning on January 1, 1981.
Earlier, Islamabad was under direct control of the administration appointed by the federal government.
He further said administrative departments are performing multifarious duties in facilitating the people of urban and rural areas.
People can easily access the website and download their desired forms either for vehicle registration or anything else at their homes, he added.
The deputy commissioner told the minister that the issue of co-operative housing societies has been resolved swiftly and administrators have been appointed where the societies were not functioning transparently.
He said that the Islamabad Food Department does not perform its actual duties like other big cities.
The deputy commissioner appealed to the minister for intervention to increase wheat quota for flour mills operating in the federal capital.
Currently the wheat quota of flour mills in Rawalpindi is much higher than that of Islamabad, which caused wheat crisis in the capital several times, he pointed out.
To a question, he said people from all walks of life could send their suggestions and complaints to the deputy commissioner through the website.
The contact numbers of all officials of the district administration are also available on this site.
