Another batch of Pakistani troops assigned the mission to restore peace under the aegis of United Nations in war ravaged Liberia left here on Tuesday on a specially chartered UN aircraft, bringing the total strength of the Pakistan contingent to about 2500 troops comprising all arms and services.
The present component consists of 163 army engineers, according to an ISPR press release issued here.
Bidding the troops adieu at the Allama Iqbal International Airport, General Officer Commanding, Major General Bilal Omar Khan said that Pakistan has remained in the forefront in peacekeeping efforts in various UN missions world-wide.
He said their perseverance, professionalism and sacrifices have increased the confidence of the world body in them, and enhanced the prestige of our armed forces at the international level.
"It is because of the willing and dedicated performance of our troops that UN's desire to engage our troops for this noble task has increased manifold," he observed.
Liberia, a small country located in the west coast of Africa next to Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast.
